Thrive Market Saved my Marriage

Happy Good For You Friday!  Raise your hand if you’ve ever spent too much money at Whole Foods.  Okay, that’s everyone.  I am absolutely grateful for Whole Foods, but the store hasn’t been nicknamed “Whole Paycheck” for nothing.  In our home, the grocery bill is always a point of contention.  While my husband understands and supports the fact that buying and eating healthy, Organic food is very important to me, I can’t say he has ever been happy with how much I spend when I make a grocery run.  And trust me, I look at prices and I actively try to not break the bank while I’m there, but I always go over that little number that I set for myself.  Anyone else with me?

Last month, I discovered Thrive Market, and I think it may have saved my marriage.  It’s like Whole Foods and Costco had an online baby –  a very sweet, cooperative, healthy baby.  Thrive Market offers all of my favorite natural and organics products, but at wholesale prices – I’m talking 25-50% off of retail (they cut out the middle-man and work directly with the vendors).  You can shop by your personal values, too.  For instance, if you are paleo, vegan or gluten-free, you can select those filters while shopping, which makes life so much easier.  And, orders over $49 ship for free.

There is an annual membership involved, ($59.95) but personally, my membership paid for itself in the savings from just one order, so that doesn’t bother me a bit.  The fact that Thrive Market gives a membership to a low-income American family for every membership purchased also makes me feel good.  I was a little wary at first about the packaging, but I learned that all of Thrive’s packaging, boxes and inserts are made from recycled materials and are recyclable, so that gave me even more peace of mind.

…And just like that, I saved $45.

*As always, I was not paid to write this post.  I just think that we all need to save money on Clean food so that we can actually send these very healthy kids of ours to college (and buy ourselves a pair of shoes once in a while).

Happy Weekend!
