For me, no visit back to New York is complete without an appointment at tenoverten.  It is absolutely my favorite nail salon ever.  Why?  Well, first of all, they only carry three-free and five-free nail polishes.  (Three-free are free of toluene, dibutyl phthalate and formaldehyde.  Five-free are free of those ingredients, plus formaldehyde resin and camphor.  These are all known toxins and/or carcinogens.)  Second, it doesn’t feel like a typical nail salon; the atmosphere is lovely and pleasant, and dare I say it, chic.  All the nail technicians are courteous, talented, and speak English only while on the clock.  That’s right, they can’t talk trash on you in another language while you are sitting right there!  Also, all nail stations come equipped with an iPad, and the pedi bowls are actually bowls, not bacteria-breeding whirlpools.  On top of all this, the prices are very reasonable.

Tenoverten is offering 20% off when you buy three or more nail polishes.  You can also purchase gift certificates online (who doesn’t want or need a mani/pedi?  What a great office gift!) and you can even book your service online.  Now that is luxurious.
