Happy Friday, Bare Beauties! As you can see, Annabel is pretty obsessed with her new Jack n’ Jill toothbrush and toothpaste. She requests to brush her teeth several times a day, and I’m sometimes tempted to just give her the whole tube to buy myself 20 minutes of freedom. I don’t, but I could, because I know it’s totally safe.
Did you know that children are much more susceptible to toxins in the environment? Not only does their thinner skin absorb everything that goes on it, but the rest of their organs are still developing as well, putting them at greater risk when faced with toxins. One of my favorite online retailers for Clean, Green personal care product for little ones is The Choosy Chick. They tolerate ZERO toxic ingredients in any of the products that they sell, so their Babies & Kids boutique is one of the best around. I thought I would share a few of my favorite products with you in honor of back-to-school season. (They are also offering a FREE GIFT with purchases of $75+. Scroll down for details.)
I love the Jack n’ Jill Bio Toothbrush. First of all, it isn’t plastic – it’s made of biodegradable corn starch. The nylon bristles are extra soft, so this toothbrush is suitable from baby’s first tooth, and the shape is ergonomically correct for little hands. Winner.
Annabel is always trying to sweet-talk her way into more delicious toothpaste at bedtime. What makes me happy about Jack n’ Jill Natural Toothpaste is that it’s GMO-free, fluoride-free, preservative-free, SLS-free, and free of Palm Oil derivatives. The five flavors are totally natural and contain no added color. (Her favorite is the strawberry flavor.)
Badger Calendula Zinc Oxide Diaper Cream is my new favorite. I usually use a diaper salve each time I change A’s diaper, and I’ll use something else that’s zinc-based on the rare occasion that she does get a diaper rash. Badger’s formula is a gentle but powerful all-in-one. It’s perfect as a daily barrier, and it is also extremely effective at eliminating diaper rash.
I also love Badger Baby Sunscreen with Chamomile & Calendula SPF 30. It’s creamy and easily absorbed, it’s free of anything nasty, and it is extremely gentle, even for very sensitive skin. It is also super-affordable.
I was desperate for a natural and effective children’s bug spray, and Margot of The Choosy Chick recommended Babytime! by Episencial Mighty Shield Bug Repellant. I would have never thought to try a lotion formula, but I must say, we love this stuff. It’s non-greasy and easily absorbed and smells nice to boot.
So many bubble baths I pick up are “all-natural” but at the end of the ingredients list is Phenoxyethanol. NOT. OKAY. It’s a toxic preservative that does not belong in our children’s products*. Babytime! by Episencial Peaceful Bubbles & Shampoo is great. It makes bubbles, which makes Annabel happy. I can wash her hair and the rest of her body with it, which makes me happy. One product. Everyone wins. (I do make allowances for products I use, personally. If Phenoxyethanol is the last ingredient in an otherwise stellar formula, and the product is something I can’t live without, I might let it slide.)
Earth Mama Angel Baby Lotion smells like heaven. It is the perfect, light, baby scent, without the phthalates, synthetic fragrance, (I’m looking at you, Johnson & Johnson) parabens or mineral oil. Not too heavy, not too light, it moisturizes well and it’s easily absorbed. This has been one of my long-time favorites.
With any purchase of $75 or more at The Choosy Chick, you will receive a special anniversary edition goodie bag ($30 value) full of Green Beauty favorites as well as free shipping. No code needed. While supplies last.
