Hey there, Bare Beauties.  I recently wrote a Clean beauty piece for The Everygirl that I wanted to share with you.  With summer almost upon us, it’s a great time to experiment with a more minimal, relaxed beauty routine and multi-tasker products.  And, if you are new to Green beauty, this season is also an opportunity to start trying some of the more important nontoxic beauty items, like mineral-based broad protection sunscreen (check out my annual Sunscreen Stars post here).  Here are some of my tried-and-true favorites that will be in my bag all summer long.  Also, scroll down for a coupon code!

Suntegrity 5-in-1 Natural Moisturizing Tinted Face Sunscreen is my go-to for a beach day; it gives incredible, nontoxic protection from the sun (it received a #1 Rating by the EWG/Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database) while evening out my skin tone.  This product does what it claims to do: treats, hydrates, protects, primes and covers.  Non-nano sized zinc-oxide  not only provides broad-spectrum UV protection, but it also soothes and calms the skin.  Zinc-oxide is known for its anti-inflammatory properties that often help skin conditions like rosacea, acne and melasma.  This BB cream is also loaded with both hydrating and non-comedogenic ingredients like organic aloe vera, jojoba, sunflower, pomegranate, cucumber and green tea as well as hyaluronic acid, astaxanthin, red algae.  For those with normal-dry skin, it can also be worn over moisturizer and under makeup for everyday.  And, with 5 ultra-versatile shades, there is an option for virtually everyone.  (I wear Golden Light.)

We’ve all fallen in love with illuminators that accentuate bone structure, but sometimes they look so… white, especially on darker or tanned skin tones.  RMS Beauty Master Mixer solves that problem.  In the pot, it looks like rose-gold-glowing-skin, and the color and coconut-oil-based formula make my complexion glow, without a trace of detectable shimmer.  As with any other illuminator, I apply it on the high points of the face (cheekbones, brow bones, down the center of the nose, the inner corners of the eyes, in the bow of the lips, the collarbone, etc.).  While it’s gorgeous all on its own, you can also wear it under or over just about any other product, so it doubles your cosmetics palette.  The Master Mixer also tones down a bright blush or warms up a cool-toned lip color.  It’s one of the most versatile cosmetics I’ve ever come across, and it’s perfect for more relaxed summer beauty routines.

Ilia Beauty makes some of my favorite Clean lip products; the colors are gorgeous, the formulas are hydrating and they never use toxic ingredients like parabens or triclosan.  Ilia Tinted Lip Conditioner with SPF 15 is the perfect trifecta of lip balm, lipstick and sun protection.  Ingredients like cocoa and shea butters hydrate lips, zinc oxide provides natural SPF, and the colors are universally flattering.  Whether you’re after a natural or bold look, this product delivers.  The colors go on sheer, but the formula is buildable, making it the perfect day-to-night staple for summer. Lily Lolo Pressed Bronzer in Miami Beach is one of my favorite bronzers.  I love that I can build my desired level of tan with this light, sheer powder.  The color is really beautiful and natural looking – it never looks orange or ruddy on my skin – and the fact that it’s in a pressed powder compact makes it great for when I’m on the go.  Ingredients like argan and jojoba oils are not only plant-based and nontoxic, they also ensure that the finish is never chalky.

Who doesn’t love a good beach wave spray in the Summer?  Captain Blankenship Golden Waves Sea Salt Shimmer Spray outshines the rest – literally.  They have taken their original formula (which has a cult following, by the way) and added golden mica to make your waves shimmer.  And, don’t worry, you won’t look like you poured glitter in your hair; it will just softly glisten, and it works on all hair colors.  The combination of aloe vera, sea salt and sea kelp extract gives me the perfect volume, hold and texture, and essential oils like palmarosa and rose geranium provide a light, beautiful natural fragrance.
