Operation Lose Baby Weight Wednesday might return next week if I can lose another G.D pound.  I mean……….. Maybe I need my adrenals or thyroid checked?  Maybe I need to start starving myself?  (Kidding.  Sort of.)  Let’s talk about something else.

A couple of weeks ago, I shared some of my favorite tinted moisturizers with SPF.  But what if tint just ain’t your thang or you just don’t need extra coverage (in which case I’m not sure we can be friends)?  Finding a Clean daily moisturizer with SPF that you actually want to put on every day can be challenging.  I thought I found a good one from Josie Maran a couple of years ago, but they changed their formula and added some nasties to the ingredient list.  Bummer.  However, I’ve been working hard to find some new goodies.  Effective Clean moisturizers that are light, hydrating, provide adequate SPF protection, and make your complexion look smooth and clear (and not chalky) do exist.

Consonant 100% Natural Matte Finish Sunscreen SPF 15 is a Godsend.  It provides Clean, effective protection from the sun, it’s good for your skin, and it makes your complexion look naturally matte.  It is perfect for daily wear and it makes an awesome makeup primer.  (This sunscreen does contain micronized zinc, but not of the nano-particle sort, so it really passes the test.)  Cost: about $36 for 50 ml.  Purchase it here.

Consonant The Perfect Sunscreen SPF 30 really is pretty perfect for those looking for more protection, but want their sunscreen to wear like a normal moisturizer.  Again, thanks to micronized zinc-oxide and titanium-dioxide, it doesn’t leave the white, chalky finish that so many other Clean sunscreens do.  The Perfect Sunscreen also has just the slightest hint of mica tint, so it evens out your skin tone, leaving you just matte enough.  It also contains superstar ingredients like aloe vera and grape seed and rice bran oils.  This sunscreen is powerful enough for the beach, but it is not water-proof, so reapplying is necessary.  Cost: about $45 for 50 ml.  Purchase it here.

Luzern La Defense SPF 30 is ahh-mazing.  It provides light-weight, powerful protection as well as a host of skin-improving ingredients like vitamins C & E, organic green tea and licorice.  It is suitable for all skin types, even those with acne or rosacea.  It also smells like juicy watermelon.  A+.  Cost: about $45 for 40ml.  Purchase it here.

Naturopathica Lavender Protective Moisturiser SPF 17 is another good, Clean option.  It moisturizes well, but those with dry skin might want something creamier.  However, it is very suitable for balanced to combination skin and leaves your complexion somewhere between matte and dewy, which in my book = perfection.  If you don’t like the scent of lavender, this is not for you.  Cost: about $58 for 75 ml.  Purchase it here.
