Dr. Alkaitis Organic Travel Kit

For the last few months I have been in search of my own personal holy grail: clear, balanced skin.  I have tried many, many products and I don’t mean I’ve sampled them once out of a foil packet.  I use something for at least two weeks before I write a post on it.  I owe you that much!  One of the many “skin kits” I’ve tested is that of Dr. Alkaitis.  It really does not get Cleaner than this, people.  You can literally eat any of Dr. Alkaitis’ products.  He calls it “raw, living food for the skin”.

Some background on the good doctor: Dr. Alkaitis is a highly regarded research scientist with a Ph.D in physical chemistry.  He has worked extensively as a chemist, molecular biologist, ethnopharmacologist, and pharmacognosist.  He is pretty much an expert on plant-life and their medicinal properties.  Lucky for us, he decided to use this knowledge to create a holistic, 100% plant-based skincare line.

Some other interesting facts:  all of Dr. Alkaitis’ products are biologically active, 100% plant based, and free of all chemicals, synthetics, “plant-derived products”, transfats and GMO’s.  100% certified Organic Aloe Vera Gel is the base of their products, not water, and they use certified Organic grape alcohol, the drinkable kind.  Their products are never tested on animals, but I am sure that you figured that by now.

And now the review of the products in the kit!  I really like the Organic Purifying Facial Cleanser.  It has a castile soap base, so it can sting eyes if you are not careful, but I found it very gentle.  It works into a bit of a lather and is effective at removing makeup without over-drying the skin.  I also like the Organic Herbal Toner.  It sank right in and prepped my skin for moisturizer.  It is a great anti-inflammatory solution for sensitive, acne-prone, and sunburned skin as well.  I found the Organic Day Creme and Organic Night Creme very unique in texture; they felt air-whipped, but they did take a moment to absorb into my skin.  However, they were not at all greasy and I didn’t break out at all while using them.  The Organic Eye Creme has a similar texture to the Day and Night Creme and also takes a moment to sink in, but it is very gentle and soft.  I love the Organic Soothing Gel.  It is an antibacterial tonic, with an Aloe Vera, Witch Hazel, and Grape Alcohol base.  This makes it perfect for healing blemishes or soothing skin that was just shaved or waxed.  It can also be used as an oil-free moisturizer for very oily skin.  My other favorite product is the Organic Nourishing Treatment Oil.  It is one of the best oils I’ve ever tried.  It absorbs quickly and smells incredible, leaving skin silky and supple.  It is non-comedogenic, so it’s great for your mug and bod, but I have heard people swear by it for taming their unruly hair as well.  The Organic Universal Mask is a real meal for the skin; it is bright green and smells like veggies and seaweed, so be prepared!  It leaves skin soft, smooth, and calm and works for all skin-types.

I highly recommend trying the whole kit and playing with different combinations of the products.  There is enough to last at least ten days, so you can really see how well you like each of them.  I have to say, in the two weeks I used this kit, I did not have a breakout.  One week is a coincidence.  Two weeks is a result.  Cost: about $50.  Purchase it here.
