Father’s Day Favorites

My Dad is not a product hound by any means.  I have never seen him use moisturizer, let alone toner or hair pomade.  His dream-father’s-day-gift is definitely not a basket of personal care products.  It’s probably more like camera equipment and tools.  However, he is quite the conservationist; he cares deeply about the environment, efficiency, and just “doing things right”.  So, sorry, Dad, in addition to the camera equipment you are receiving some #barebeautyapproved goodies.  They will be good for your health and the environment, so you can’t think they are totally lame.  🙂

For the rest of you, the man in your life may very well be a Kiehl’s addict.  Please know that just because it is an established brand with apothecary-style marketing does not mean that it is Clean.  Because it’s not.  Not even close.  Fear not, because just below you will find the best Clean personal care lines for men!

SW_Basics_Lip_Balm_Flight_1024x1024

S.W. Basics is a no-frills, unisex product line with simple, pure ingredients.  Their cleanser is gentle, but effective at washing away the day, their cream works well on both face and body, (note: great replacement for cetaphil or cerave moisturizer) and the lips balms work without being gooey or shiny.  Cost: about $24 for 4 oz cleanser, about $32 for 3.75 oz cream, about $15 for 4 sticks lip balm.  Purchase it all here.

JOHN MASTERS ORGANICS

John Masters Organics already had great unisexy packaging and a cult following of both sexes.  However, they’ve recently launched a just-for-men line that is pretty ingenious.  Why?  The products are 2-in-1’s; the face wash is also a shave foam and the moisturizer doubles as aftershave.  Cost: about $22 and $28, respectively.  Purchase them here.  Note: they are offering 33% off your order for Father’s Day!

DR. BRONNER’S MAGIC PURE CASTILE SOAPS

OLTT16 OBTT05

I am a big Dr. Bronner’s fan, if you have not figured that out by now.  It is inexpensive, widely available and effective; a total no-brainer.  My husband uses it as a face and body wash and loves it.  It is a painless first-step product into the world of Clean.  Cost: about $17 for 32 oz or $4.50 for a bar of soap.  Purchase it here or at Whole Foods.

WELEDA

Weleda is a Swiss company that has been trusted in Europe for decades.  The brand even grows many of its own ingredients in it’s own biodynamic gardens.  Their product line is fairly unisex, but the men’s care additions have been a hit.  Both the shave cream and moisturizer contain hydrating, calming botanicals and plant-based oils.  Cost: about $14.50 for 2.5 oz and about $21 for 1 oz, respectively.  Purchase both here.

DR. ALKAITIS

Dr. Alkaitis is so natural you can eat it.  How is that for Clean?  All ingredients are food-grade and raw, making them easily absorbed into the skin.  The shampoo is suitable for all hair types and stimulates circulation while the body wash is full of essential oils, vitamins and herbs.  Cost: about $45 each for 8 oz.  Purchase them here.

….

Happy early Father’s Day, Dad!  Thank you for being so sweet and supportive and reading my blog every day, even though it probably bores you to tears!  I love you!
