Who says greens have to be in your smoothie for it to be considered a healthy choice? This beautiful red smoothie is so nutritious and tastes clean and sweet, but there really isn’t much sugar in it. Beets are said to lower blood pressure and we all know how great apples, carrots, and ginger are for us. Give this recipe a try, you will be glad you did.
Beet, Apple and Ginger Smoothie (serves 1):
- 2 medium size beets; previously roasted and refrigerated – I like to use Love Beets
- 2 carrots, peeled and roughly chopped
- 1 apple, skin on, cored; I like to use honey crisp apples
- 1 1-inch piece of ginger, peeled
- juice from 1//2 a lemon
- 2 tablespoons orange juice
Blend all ingredients together in a Vitamix or powerful blender. These ingredients in the same exact amounts can also make a great juice if you have a juicer, by the way.
