I receive a lot of emails from companies asking if I will sample and write about their products. And the answer is, “I am happy to, as long as the ingredients are Clean and I find the products effective”. Many do not pass the test, but when Christine Cunningham and Kara Kivi contacted me about their line, Splurge Skincare, I checked out the ingredient list and I was immediately interested. Totally Clean! I told them to bring it on. They did.
It is no secret that we need to exfoliate and moisturize more often in the cold, dry winter months. Unless you don’t mind scaly legs. Ew. While I am not usually a fan of body scrubs, The Rub is a great multi-tasker and feels very luxurious. Sugar gently exfoliates, then melts into the plant-based oils, which leave my skin so incredibly moisturized, I don’t need any body lotion or oil after I get out of the shower. The Autumn scent is spicy and warming; I love it! Bare Beauty Approved! Cost: about $26 for 8 oz. Purchase it here.
Ingredients: sugar (sucrose),organic safflower oil (carthamus tinctorius), meadowfoam oil (limnanthes alba), glycerin, organic cocoa butter (theobroma cacao), organic shea butter (butyrospermum parkii), aloe vera leaf juice (aloe barbadensis), sweet orange essential oil (citrus aurantium dulcis), clove bud essential oil (eugenia caryophyllus), cinnamon leaf essential oil (cinnamomum zeylanicum), vitamin E (tocopherol), nutmeg
My husband and I are lip balm junkies; we don’t leave the house without the stuff. And let me tell you, we have tried so many brands. Many need to be reapplied too often. Some taste gross. Some leave our lips drier, creating the vicious lip balm cycle. Splurge Skincare’s Lip Buttah is quite possibly the perfect lip balm. It goes on smoothly and easily (many Clean, coconut oil-based lip balms freeze up in cold weather and are difficult to apply), it stays put for a long time, and it truly moisturizes. I like the Peppermint flavor. Cost: about $7. Purchase it here.
Ingredients: babassu oil (orbignya oleifera), organic cocoa butter (theobroma cacao), beeswax (cera alba), sweet almond oil (prunus amygdalus dulcis), organic castor oil (ricinus communis), peppermint essential oil (mentha piperita), vitamin E (tocopherol)
The Tinted Buttah is just as amazing as the original. I tried the shade called In Love, and I am! It is the prettiest, barely-there sheer pink. It is just enough color to feel polished, but you could put it on in the dark, with your eyes closed, without a mirror, you get the idea. I am finding myself reaching for this rather than any other lip product in my handbag. If you know me, that is a big deal. I have about a dozen lip products in my bag at a time! These come in Peppermint flavor as well. Cost: about $7. Purchase it here.
Ingredients: babassu oil (orbignya oleifera), organic cocoa butter (theobroma cacao), beeswax (cera alba), sweet almond oil (prunus amygdalus dulcis), organic castor oil (ricinus communis), peppermint essential oil (mentha piperita), alkanet root powder (alkanna tinctoria), vitamin E (tocopherol)
Splurge Skincare really won me over. The products are Clean and very effective and the price points are so reasonable. I will definitely be purchasing these for myself and others in the months ahead!
