It is finally sunny in Charleston.  I was getting desperate. People in Seattle, I don’t know how you do it.  I love the sun, I want the sun, I need the sun.  That said….

I know you don’t want to hear this.  You really need to wear a Clean SPF on your face and neck, and probably your décolletage, every single day, all year long.  “But I have so many other products I need to apply in the morning” you say.  “But I am vitamin D deficient” you say.  Do you want to look old or young, haggard or pretty?  That’s what I thought.  Besides, did you know that glass (car windows, office windows) absorbs vitamin D, but not UVA and UVB rays?  So, you probably aren’t even getting the benefits of the sun while leaving yourself unprotected.  Talk about unfair.

Sorry.  Enough preaching.  It’s just because I love you.

I want a daily moisturizer that multi-tasks.  I don’t just want a generic moisturizer with SPF; I want something that is going to nourish, protect, refine and rebuild.  I’m guessing that you do to, so here are my faves.

JOSIE MARAN ARGAN OIL DAILY MOISTURIZER WITH SPF 40

I love Josie and I love her product line and I love this moisturizer.  It is light and sheer enough for every day, but strong enough for a full day in the sun.  In case you’ve been living under a rock, Argan oil is basically being credited as the fountain of youth.  (Just look at Josie’s face.)  It contains tons of good stuff like vitamin E, essential fatty acids, antioxidants, phenol, carotene, and squalene.  Many people claim it cures acne, rosacea, and it definitely reduces redness and fine lines while moisturizing like no other.  A little goes a long way if you have super-oily skin, but it does contain refined zinc for mattification.  Also, don’t be fooled by impostors.  This stuff is harvested organically and comes from a virgin first cold press.  Cost: about $32 for 2 oz.  Purchase it here.

REN SATIN PERFECTION BB CREAM SUNSCREEN

REN is one of my very favorite skincare lines.  Their products deliver results, period.  This is their first product with sunscreen because they wouldn’t put something on the market unless it was both Clean and effective.  Most BB creams employ silicones to “blur” imperfections on your face; obviously REN does not use silicones – or parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, petrolatum, synthetic fragrance, synthetic colors, TEA, DEA, glycols, or PEG’s.  I just started using it a few weeks ago and I love, love, love it.  It provides adequate coverage (but not too much), minimizes imperfections, leaves a semi-matte finish, firms, and provides sun protection.  Amazing.  Cost: about $38 for 1.7 oz.  Purchase it here.

JURLIQUE PURELY SUN-DEFYING MOISTURIZER SPF 15

Jurlique offers wonderful products.  They were Clean long before it was cool to be, like, 25 years ago.  This daily moisturizer is light, but very hydrating and works well under make-up.  It enriches skin with natural antioxidants and natural soothing agents like red algae extract, ectoin, and buriti oil.  Note, it is not recommended for darker skin tones.  Cost: about $58 for 40ml.  Purchase it here.

JUICE BEAUTY SPF 30 MINERAL MOISTURIZER – SHEER

Juice Beauty is great place to start if you are new to the Clean beauty movement.  This moisturizer blends antioxidant-rich grape, apple and pomegranate with sodium hyaluronate for even-toned, supple skin.  This moisturizer is best for normal to dry skin and also comes in a tinted version (ivory, sand, and tan).  Cost: about $29 for 2 oz.  Purchase it here or at Whole Foods.
