Every time a Green beauty brand tells me that they want me to try their new SPF, I’m game.  Like the search for the best-fitting jeans, or most flattering swimsuit, my quest for the perfect sunscreen never ends.  I’m constantly impressed by these brand founders who work day and night to give us formulas that can compete with the mainstream brands while keeping our health in mind.  Ursa Major just released their new Force Field Daily Defense Lotion SPF 18, and I’m not just impressed, I’m amazed.  Seriously.  Scroll down for details on a GIVEAWAY.

This daily SPF goes on sheer – I’m talking ZERO white, chalky, tint, people, ZERO.  And, it is the absolute most lightweight natural daily SPF I’ve ever tried aside from that of True Botanicals.  It is not oily, greasy, heavy, or runny, it doesn’t leave me shiny, (the finish is semi-matte) and instead of rubbing it in for 5 minutes like many other SPF’s, it sinks right into skin.  I have combo/oily skin, so I don’t need to use anything else underneath this product to attain adequate hydration, but it does layer well over oils and serums (I tried using it both ways, just for you.)  I also have acne-prone skin; many sunscreens, even the lighter, daily-use, natural formulas, cause me to break out.  Not this one.  I would estimate that even someone with severe acne would fare well with this product.

The non-nano Zinc Oxide in Force Field provides broad-spectrum SPF 18 in just one pump, which is rare for daily-use formulas, since they tend to be more lightweight.  And, SPF 18 doesn’t sound like adequate protection to many people, but did you know that it actually blocks over 93% of UVA and UVB rays?  (SPF 30 blocks 97%.)

One last little tidbit: I’ve spoken to the folks at Ursa Major a lot over the last few years, and I know that one of the first products they wanted to launch when they set up shop was a sunscreen.  That was five years ago – they’ve been working on this project for FIVE years!  Their hard work has more than paid off.  Force Field is a moisturizer, anti-ager and sunscreen, in one.  This high-tech formula contains large doses of ingredients like Swiss Apple, Alpine Rose and Mexican Prickly Poppy Stem Cells, Squalene and Sodium Hyaluronate, so while it moisturizes skin and protects it from sun damage, it is also strengthening the skin barrier, promoting cell turnover, improving skin tone and texture and increasing elasticity.  Now, if only they would offer a tinted version…..  (See, the search never ends!)
