Work it: The Pregnancy Project

pregnancy-project__06511_zoom

I promise this will NOT become a pregnancy or parenting blog, but since announcing my own pregnancy, many readers are asking for advice on eating and working out while pregnant.  I am also getting lots of questions on Clean personal care products for children, which I will cover in a few upcoming blog posts.  This is a new category for me (I am learning, too), so I will try to answer as many questions as I can while still remaining true to the original and main purpose of Bare Beauty.

Something you may not know about me – I am a fully-certified Pilates instructor.  While it is not my main gig these days, I still teach a few classes per week at Exhale Pilates here in Charleston, which is voted best Pilates studio in town year after year.  Why is it considered the best?  We give a damn hard workout – it’s not your grandmother’s Pilates class.  I love Pilates; it is my favorite method of exercise and I know I will be a devoted instructor and student for life.

Lately, if I can’t get into a class or if I am traveling, I’ve been supplementing with Tracy Anderson’s The Pregnancy Project.  I have to admit I was skeptical for a few reasons when I purchased the set of dvd’s: 1.) I kind of think that in order to get Tracy Anderson results, you really have to work out with Tracey Anderson or one of her trainers; no one is going to work out by themselves in front of their TV two hours per day, six times per week.  2.) I purchased one of her mat dvd’s once and it just wasn’t hard enough.  Well, this program is different.  There is one dvd for each month of pregnancy, so the exercises keep changing with your growing body, and all you need is a mat, 3 lb. weights and a chair.  No impossible dance routines required.  The moves are easy to follow, but by the time the routine is over I am tired and I am always sore the next day.  Approved!  Cost: about $50 for 9 discs.  Purchase it here.
