As I told you a few weeks ago, I’ve been putting a few new-to-me Clean cosmetics lines to the test lately.  Today’s pick is Au Naturale.  the founder, Ashley Prange, was working as an analyst in Washington, D.C. when her skin started to break out.  After finally discovering that it was from the synthetic ingredients in her cosmetics, she began mixing her own batches at home using gluten-free, vegan, nontoxic ingredients.  It all turned around from there, and Au Naturale Cosmetics was born.  (Scroll down for a COUPON CODE.)

I really appreciate (and I know that you will, too) that Au Naturale offers an extensive product line.  Concealer, foundation, blush, bronzer, eye shadow and highlighters all come in both cream and powder formulas, and there are dozens of colors to choose from.  The price point is also budget-friendly – their mineral powder foundation is only $32, which is on par with many popular brands that are not Clean, gluten-free or cruelty-free.

I chose products with a warm, bronzy tone for a tanned, summery look.  Here is what I’m wearing:

• Cream Concealer in Oaxaca: This concealer is great.  It is creamy, but not too emollient, which means minimal creasing and no raccoon eyes when worn with mascara.  It’s highly pigmented, so it also works well on blemishes and hyper pigmentation.  I apply cream concealers and foundations with a Beauty Blender, for an even, natural-looking finish.
• Organic Cream Bronzer Stick on Latte: Cream bronzers can be intimidating, but they’re easier to use than you think.  I tap my finger on the cream stick to warm it up, and then I apply it to my face in the same places I wear powder bronzer (under the cheekbones, on the temples and on the nose).  Then, so I don’t look like a contouring video gone wrong, I blend it using my Beauty Blender.  I just lightly tap, or bounce the damp sponge until the color is even and natural-looking.
• Powder Foundation in Lucerne: Made with only non-nano Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Iron Oxides and Mica, (no fillers!) this totally Clean mineral powder gives my skin a semi-matte finish with moderate coverage.  It also provides some SPF, but  please don’t rely on powder alone for sun protection!  I set any concealer or bronzer with the powder foundation ( I apply it sparingly) using a big, fluffy brush.
• Powder Blusher in Pomegranate: This blush has just enough pigment, and gives a semi-matte, airbrushed-like finish.  The color is great for summer; it’s a rosy-terracotta.  I apply this with a medium-sized blush brush on the apples of my cheeks, and blend it into my bronzer underneath my cheekbones as well.
• Organic Cream Highlighter Stick in Celestial: This bright, pearly white highlighter is free of any undertones, making it great for all skin tones.  A little goes a long way; I dab just a tiny bit on my brow bone, above my cheekbones, and down the center of my nose with the pad of my ring finger.
• Creme Eye Shadow in Palma: These cream shadows are similar to the RMS Beauty Eye Polish cream shadows.  They’re a bit silkier and more powdery, but they still give that sheer, wash of color.  Also, these aren’t coconut oil-based, so if your skin reacts to RMS, these shadows are a great alternative.  You can use a brush to apply, but I prefer to tap the shadow on with my finger tips.
• Eyeliner Pencil in Coco: This eye pencil glides right on, which I love, and it stayed put all day.
• Lipstick in Marrakesh: Natural-looking color, incredible moisture, and an easy, creamy application.  This lipstick is a dream.
• Lip Gloss in Nudist: This sheer, bronze gloss is a beautiful, unique color.  I like that it adds some dimension to the face without being bright red or pink.  The formula is silky and very moisturizing.
