Admittedly, I am a Summer Girl. Every Fall, I mourn the loss of extra daylight, copious amounts of beach time and easy, not-so-serious dressing. I’m not a lover of football or cold weather, so it can be difficult for me to jump into the next season. Instead, I try to slowly ease into it, and how I approach my makeup routine is no different. Instead of putting my bronzer away into a drawer, I still use it, just a little differently. I mean, we would all look a little ridiculous if on September 1st, we decided to wear pale foundation with vampy lips and nails (especially here in Charleston, where the high is still about 85 degrees).
To get away with using bronzer in the Fall, or even in the Winter, it’s all about what you don’t wear with it. Instead of pairing bronzer with a lip or cheek in the coral family, try it with a dusty rose or ruby tones; think about the warm, subdued colors of Fall foliage. And, personally, I apply my bronzer with a lighter hand in the cooler months. You don’t want to look like “that girl”…
Kjaer Weis Dazzling Bronzer is just gorgeous. It is one of the best cream bronzers I’ve used in a long time, and it can double as creamy eye shadow as well as a contouring cream. The lightweight, silky formula has a slight shimmer.
RMS Beauty Living Luminizer – if you are a long-time reader, than you know that I use this highlighter every single day, you know it’s my favorite and you’re probably tired of hearing me talk about it. But seriously! The glow it gives is second to none!
W3LL PEOPLE’s The Universalist Matte Multi-Use Color Stick in #9 Nude Flush creates the most natural-looking glow; no one will even know you have makeup on, and it works on almost any skin tone. This is my absolute favorite cream-blush formula. It is moisturizing, but never shiny, and the silky formula has real staying-power.
W3LL PEOPLE Bio Bronzer Powder is always in my makeup bag. Need to replace your Nars Laguna bronzer? This does the trick – without the shimmer.
Nudus Lipstick in 27 Kisses has a cult-following, and for good reason. The color gives just enough life to the face, (it’s just a shade or two darker than my own lips) plus tons of moisture and enough polish to feel “done”. *Note: don’t be afraid of how dark it looks in the tube, as it goes on much lighter.*
Fior Minerals Organic Eyeliner in Brown Sugar has become a favorite of mine for both day and night. I love how this rich, dark brown liner glides on, smudges easily, but doesn’t fade away. And, the creamy, natural formula is perfect for sensitive eyes like mine. Tip: this is the best liner I’ve found for creating a smoky eye.
The Organic Pharmacy Natural Glam Sheer Tint in Natural Glow is one of the best tinted moisturizers you will ever use. This unique, super-light formula evens out skin tone, eliminates redness and subtly warms the complexion without leaving those tell-tale foundation lines along the jawline. It works well over moisturizer, sunscreen, and even foundation and it works on all skin types. When I look like the Walking Dead, but don’t want to look like I’m wearing a ton of makeup, this is what I reach for.
Glow On.
