Happy Friday! Like I wrote the other day, I’m jonesing for a tropical getaway, but it ain’t happening this spring. Ironically, I keep testing products that are the perfect inspiration for planning an escape. (Insert sad face here.) I thought I’d share some of my latest finds with you while I wait for the weather to warm up and my post-baby body to get skinny (if I wait long enough, do you think it will just happen?)
Osea Malibu makes gorgeous products, and I’ve really loved their cleansers, in particular. The Ocean Cleanser is a mineral-rich, cream-gel that removes surface impurities without stripping skin. Seaweed and algae hydrate and remineralize skin while vegan lactic acid (derived from beets) gently exfoliates. I love that Osea uses glass bottles, but also makes convenient travel sizes of all their products so you don’t have to lug a heavy bag to your final destination.
My blogger-friend, Lauren, of Free Love Beauty, created her own collection of illuminating oils. My favorite is Sun Child, which gives skin a gorgeous golden glow. You can use it alone for more concentrated highlighter, or mix it with body or face oil or lotion for a subtle, all-over glow. The honey-gold mica is a cross between gold and bronze, and really takes tan skin to the next level. Lauren uses only certified organic oils like rosehip and grapeseed, which don’t leave behind any greasy residue on skin. I used this a lot last summer in the evenings, and I can’t wait to break it back out when #mamasback!
Leahlani Skincare is for the whimsical girly-girl in all of us. Their cult-favorite is the Mermaid Mask, which is like a green smoothie for your skin. Superfoods like Spirulina, Chlorella, and Raw Honey are mixed with circulation-boosting essential oils to impart the maximum glow. I really don’t know what took me so long to try this skincare line. Now, I want to try everything Leahlani makes. This mask has definitely become a favorite!
Who doesn’t love a good beach wave spray in the Summer? Captain Blankenship Golden Waves Sea Salt Shimmer Spray outshines the rest – literally. They took their original formula (which has a cult following, by the way) and added golden mica to make your waves shimmer. And, don’t worry, you won’t look like you poured glitter in your hair; it will just softly glisten, and it works on all hair colors. The combination of aloe vera, sea salt and sea kelp extract gives me the perfect volume, hold and texture, and essential oils like palmarosa and rose geranium provide a light, beautiful natural fragrance. This was another favorite last summer that I can’t wait to dive back into.
I us a lot more coconut oil when the weather is warmer and it’s not rock-hard in the jar, don’t you? Kapuluan Cold Pressed Raw Coconut Oil isn’t your ordinary coconut oil. Kapuluan goes the extra mile to make sure that their oil isn’t just organic and cold-pressed, it’s also ethically sourced. Kapuluan is committed to sustainable coconut palm farming and combatting climate change, so for every product sold, they plant one tree. They also support fair trade, sourcing directly from coconut farmers. (Did you know that 60% of them live in extreme poverty?) So, whether you are adding it to your coffee, shaving with it, or using it as diaper cream on your baby, you can feel good knowing that what you are using is pure, in every sense of the word.
I hope you have a great weekend!
