Over the past two months, so many of you asked are you going to do a blog post or another promo on that awesome cleaning line you talked about on Instagram Stories? YES. I am. Right now. The nontoxic cleaning company we are referring to is Branch Basics. It has become a favorite of mine recently because a.) it works; b.) it’s simple; c.) it’s affordable; and d.) I just really love the people behind this ethical brand. I’ve put my Instagram Stories post about Branch Basics back up on my Instagram Highlights Reel for those of you who prefer watching video over reading a blog post. But, if you aren’t into video, or if you aren’t on Insta, I’ve outlined everything below. Also, scroll down for the promo code.
Branch Basics is a nontoxic cleaning line, but most of the products are made from one formula: The Concentrate. When you purchase their Starter Kit, you will receive a big bottle of the Concentrate, and 4 other empty (!) bottles intended for bathroom, all-purpose, streak-free and foaming wash (but each of these recipes has dozens of uses – more on that later). Each empty bottle is marked with fill lines that indicate how much water and how much Concentrate should be included. It makes life very easy, as you only have to repurchase the Cleaning Concentrate, not multiple cleaning products. Also, have you ever thought about the fact that the majority of cleaning products are mostly made up of water? To be blunt, shipping water is dumb. When you use Branch Basics, not only are you consuming less plastic, less toxic chemicals, and emitting less VOC’s, you’re also doing your part in saving our planet because you’re not paying to ship water – tons of fuel isn’t being burned shipping your cleaning products. (For the record, only about 1/8 of a full bottle of The Concentrate will fill your entire starter kit the first time – it is so economical.
Something else I want to touch on is that this line is completely fragrance-free. Branch Basics’ motto is “the best fragrance is no fragrance”. Many “nontoxic” cleaning lines still contain synthetic fragrance or fragrance from essential oils (which can be great, unless you’re allergic). So, if you have a family member who has allergies, asthma, or is sensitive to synthetic chemicals, these products are especially ideal. Branch Basics also discloses all their ingredients right on the bottle – did you know that cleaning product companies in the US are not required to do this by law? When you think about the toxic – literally lethal -chemicals present in most of these products, this fact infuriates me, but that’s for another day. I like to keep it positive around here. Let’s vote with our pocketbooks. 🙂
Let’s quickly go over each bottle and what it can do.
- Bathroom does what it says – your whole bathroom: tile, grout, floors, toilets, shower, and more.
- Streak-Free is great for windows, mirrors, and glass in general.
- All-Purpose is a workhorse. It tackles stains, dirty dishes, grease, countertops (even marble), stainless steel and more.
- Foaming Soap works on hands, body and face, and more.
- Oxygen Boost is great for laundry, other textile stains, scrubbing grout and more.
And, Branch Basics has an amazing User Guide with dozens and dozens of recipes and instructions on how to clean everything in your home from the grill of your car to jewelry to crayon marks on the walls.
