Ayla Beauty always, always brings on the most unique, effective, cutting-edge brands and products that none of us have even heard of yet. This is not your typical green beauty shop or website. Dara, Ayla’s founder, is constantly ahead of the curve, and when she suggests a new product for me, I listen.
Recently, Ayla brought on Twelve Beauty , founded and formulated by Pedro Catala, PhD, MSC. Pedro has spent 20 years studying pharmacology, botany and cosmetology, so while this line is new, it’s not just another clean beauty skincare line in a shiny, fresh packaging. Dara recently sent me Twelve Beauty Ideal Rebalancing Serum saying that she knew it would be great for my skin (we’ve known each other for a long time, and she knows my skin – they can get to know yours, too.) As you can probably imagine, I receive a lot of skincare for trial every month. I put in in the pile. But when I finally tried it? OMG. You guys, it is amazing. This formula is so unique; it’s like nothing I’ve ever tried in the clean beauty world. It’s a gentle, hydrating, oil-free serum that goes on before oil or moisturizer, and it is fabulous. If you have sensitive skin, acne-prone skin, oily skin, reactive (allergic reactions) skin, or combination skin this is for you. This formula regulates sebum production without over-drying skin, and it has the longest chain hyaluronic acid on the market. Naturally, I want to try the rest of this line, now! All the ladies at Ayla (as well as Pedro) count the Purifying Cleansing Beauty Cream as their favorite. And, now with any $95 Twelve Beauty purchase you will get a full size bottle for free, so hop on this bandwagon. I am. (Read Dara’s interview with Pedro here. If you’re a skincare nerd, you will LOVE it.)
Another exciting launch at Ayla (and exclusive to them) is Marie Veronique for Ayla – Dara’s Oil. Marie Veronique and Dara formulated this oil together for Dara’s extra, extra, super-sensitive skin. It is fragrance free, essential oil free, tocopherol free, vegan, gluten free, and nut free, so if this sounds like you, I would definitely give it a try. And, if this doesn’t sound like you, you will probably love it, too! I do. While in Los Angeles last week, I was suffering from a bad breakout made worse (by me trying to do salicylic acid by day, and retinol by night. Don’t do it, you will get an itchy red rash that the sun only exacerbates). My skin needed a break from just about everything. I came home and doused my face and neck in Dara’s Oil, and voila. Calm skin. In one day. Thank you, Dara! Also worth noting is that 10% of sales of Dara’s Oil will go to relief funds set up by Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino County Community Foundations.
Lastly, my beloved Biocyte Hyaluronic Forté was recently upgraded to include plant-based hyaluronic acid of different molecular weights — which means faster results and more of an impact on deeper wrinkles. (Read my original review here.) And, they are now offering a 3-pack, which is an exceptional deal (90 gel caps for $100, instead of 30 gel caps for $50). I continue to adore this product. It is so great for the cold, dry months of winter, but I use it year-round to hide depressions in my skin from the atrophy that cortisone injections left behind in my cystic acne days. One of my not-so-secret weapons.
If you still have dry skin after reading this post, it’s your own fault. 😉
